Following the retirement of Tony Blevins, the new chairman of the Australian Institute of Petroleum (AIP) is to be Gerry Hueston of BP. The appointment is effective from today.

Gerry is the Managing Director of BP Australia with additional responsibility as Chief Executive Officer, Marketing, which encompasses BP's downstream business in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and South West Pacific.

A New Zealander by birth, Gerry joined BP in 1976 in NSW and since then has held a wide variety of positions both in Australia and abroad, including New Zealand, Holland, Belgium and the UK.

Mr Hueston thanked Tony Blevins for his contribution to the AIP and wished him a long and happy retirement.
