ROAD TRANSPORT FUEL CONSUMPTION IN AUSTRALIA

Below is a chart of the road transport fuel consumption in Australia for the financial year 2000-01. Conventional petroleum-based fuels such as petrol and diesel provide the vast majority of transport fuels, although growth rates in LPG and ethanol have been significantly higher than in petrol and diesel over the past few years largely due to the fact that no excise is liable on these fuels.
